THEY Told ME So!

Google/Blogger decided this was a spam-blog, and locked it on me. I told them it wasn't. It appears that they have now unlocked it - we'll see if this posts.

Comments:
Some people seem to believe that the best way to deal with those they disagree with with is to shut them down.

Voltaire would shudder (as would Evelyn Beatrice Hall).

They said it was a bot. Poor, confused little bot. Does this look anything like a spam-blog?

Because of the weird stuff I write about a lot of times my posts come up very high on Google, so maybe the bot is mostly just checking for blogs high in the hit list.

I'm staggering off to take a nap, desperately fighting off the urge to google Evelyn Beatrice Hall.

WHO IS SHE?

Probably all the boiler plate agiiprop in the comments of recent posts. At least they didn't steal hundreds of dollars in advertising revenue.

E.B.Hall, writing under a pseudonym, paraphrased Voltaire, and that paraphrase is the attributed quote. I Google so you won't have to.

I think Teri is on to something here:

"Gee, somehow I think that the blog was locked for anti-Obama statements, much like what happened to the sites run by Hillary Clinton supporters. So much for free speech."

Do you think it was a coincidence that some Obama statements were made on this blog AND it went down?

I don't either.

Who controls the Internets? Could it be the Nancy Pelosi by any chance?

Do you think it's a coincidence that bad things happen when the Democrat Party has the presidency?

Like the Arab oil embargo in 1973. Coincidence? Huh? What about the Beirut bombing in 1982? Right?

But here's the really scary thing: bad things happen even when the Democrat Party doesn't control the White House.

Nazis invaded Poland in 1939. Pearl Harbor 1941. See? Even when a Republican is president, bad things happen.

What's the common thread? Yup, the Democrat Party is either in power or their scheming to take power. And bad things happen as a result.

So this blog went down. Coincidence? Or could it have something to do with Special Agent Vince Foster from the Government of the United Nations? Everyone will deny it -- what do you expect them to do?

They control everything.

Right now they're making me type this. You'll think, "Oh, Clemente619, he's nuts", so you won't believe it. That's how devious they are!

You're afraid and they're doing it. Coincidence!?

Err.. I wouldn't say you are nuts, Clemente, but a history refresher might be in order. FDR (liberal Dem through and through) was prez in 39 and 41...

Maybe 2001 and 1975 (Fall of Saigon) might serve your polemical purposes better.

Clemente, I seem to remember a time when a bunch of blogs were shut down and it seemed correlated to some political leaning. I can't remember the details or if it was ever proven, but I do remember seeing some chatter about it.

"I can't remember the details or if it was ever proven, but I do remember seeing some chatter about it."

Well, there you go. I rest my case!

On July 15, Fox News reported:

Seven blogs run by Democrats who oppose Obama’s nomination for the presidency were incorrectly flagged as spam sites by Blogger, the hosting service Google has owned since 2003. Google says it was an automated response from a spam filter.

But the bloggers believe that Web surfers who support Obama took advantage of a loophole in Blogger’s system that allows readers to report spam blogs, the artificial Web sites that abound on the Internet and are used to promote other sites.

"It appears that [Blogger's] policy can be manipulated by people determined to shut down the free exchange of ideas," said Carissa Snedeker, whose blog, BlueLyon, was among those that were frozen.

Dunno about all that, thinking hard about Firefox as no prob for those folks in hitting CR - they pulled the sitemeter ad and I could get there - took the hint and found a kicking host file to download and now can connect to MoM, and a host of other blogspot blogs that were going 'boink'...

Travis, that wasn't even the incident I was thinking of. I suppose it's not totally unreasonable, but how would one ever really know unless one were looking at a list of ALL blogs blocked as spam? I took a look at some of the blogs kicked before, and I really don't see why a bot would kick them so I think they might have a point. On the other hand, I can see why a bot might kick mine because of the weirdly high Google search position on some of these posts.

All I know is that Google told me a bot flagged this blog, that they were going to delete the blog in 20 days, and how to ask for a human review. They blocked posting but not the whole blog.

However I think I will shadow over to Wordpress. This is too uncertain.

One thing I read "somewhere" was that the blocking of pro-Hillary or anti-Obama blogs was relatred to a a spam or perceived-as-spam email that referred to those blogs - so it might be an interconnection of gmail and blogspot.

But that doesn't explain how this blog got frozen.

MoM, this affected not just you but CR and Yves as well. I find that disturbing.

All are on Blogger. I don't buy the bot idea unless it's true twinkies killed Harvey Milk.

It's the Chinese - they think you're about to destroy the Olympics.

Well from what I read if someone flags a blog as spam it is automatically locked by a Bot and Google deal's with complaints as they come in.

I got a notice from Microsoft, signed under oath with the penalty of perjury and with the stiffest possible penalties for false or gratuitous accusations alleging that I had violated their copy right and they were ready to sue me.

Both the alleged infringing item and whatever copyright was infringed were missing.

Yea, too much faith in automation while accusing folks of vile things makes one look rather stupid.

# posted by MaxedOutMama"

Good idea. My doctor has a blog, and it was kicked by Google with no warning. He never did get either an answer from Google as to why, nor did he get his posted content accessible again. (His blog was all straight medical - no politics, no spam, etc).

He ended up starting from scratch with WordPress, and lost years of postings (though much of it he has been able to find original source material for and so has begun recreating old posts).

Apparently Google was doing their part to ensure the coronation:

Because nobody can be permitted to utter Blasphemy against The OBAMA.

"O come let us adore Him,
O come let us adore Him,
O Come Let Us Adore HIIIIIM --
BA-RAAAACK O-BAAAA-MAAAAAA!!!!"
